Tax reform

One of my political fantasies is completely changing the tax system to some type of flat tax or perhaps the FAIR tax proposal that does away with income tax. The tax system is so complicated. For example, there is another Obama administration nominee with tax problems. Her case seems innocent enough. She is the governor of Kansas and is being nominated for Health and Human Services Secretary. Probably due to all the past embarrassment of Obama nominees not paying their taxes, she decided to have an accountant review her tax returns for the past 3 years. The accountant determined that she owed about $7000 in back taxes. There is no indication that this was deliberate in this case, but shows how complicated the process of tax assessment has become. Not even the governor of a state can get the proper amount of tax calculated. We need a better tax system.
